CHEERS to the Winners at the 2004 San Diego County Fair Homemade Wine & Liqueur competition:

Daniel Todd did quite well. Here's his awards: 2004 San Diego County Fair 1'st White Varietal 2003 San Miguel Pinot Blanc, 3'rd place 2003 Temecula Chardonney, 3'rd Red Blend 55% Syrah, 35% Zinfandel, 10% Cabernet, 5'th 2003 Zinfandel., 2004 Orange County Sliver 2003 Orange Muscat, Silver 2003 Chardonney, Bronze 2003 Zinfandel, 2004 LA County Gold, Best of Division 2003 Pinot Blanc, Gold 2003 Orange Muscat, Silver 2003 Chardonney

Pete Anderson entered the San Diego Fair - 1st Place Dessert Wines for his Port; 3rd Place for his Red Blend (Sangiovese -Cabernet) and 5th Place for his Red Blend (Nebbiolo-Cabernet).

Jennifer & Rick Buffington took 1st place in the Italian varietals division for their 2001 Barbera. This was the division our club sponsored. We also got a 3rd place in the Merlot division for a 2002 Merlot and an honorable mention for their 2002 Merlot Cougar label. At Orange County Rick received a Silver for his 2003 Chenin Blanc, Bronze for his 2002 Merlot and Honorable Mention for the Merlot Cougar label. Jennifer received a Silver for her 2003 Berry Port.

Cecil Crow second place in the hand made wine labels.

Mike Hathaway won Best of Show for The Bridges red.

Bob Howard won 2nd place for his 2000 Merlot, 4th place for his 2002 Merlot, 2002 Sauvignon Blanc took 5th place, 2003 Chenin Blanc took 5th place, 2002 Blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Sarah (Bocario) 2nd place.

Kevin Kozak won 2nd place: Sauvignon Blanc, 5th place and two Honorable Mentions: Label Contest.

Brian Riley won 2 medals in the Cabernet & Cabernet blend categories: his 2001 Cab. Sauvignon won fourth place in the Cabernet category and his 2001 Cabernet and Dolcetto blend won fourth place in the Red Blend category.

John Vigliotti won 3rd with his 2003 Muscat; he won 2nd for his Plum 2003. He and Jim S and Bill M crafted a Rose that won 1st and best in division. And at OC their Rose' took a gold, his Plum and Muscat wines got honorable mention.

Winemakers Magazine 2003 Bronze in the International Wine Label Contest went to our very own Robin Davis.

2002 WineMaker International Amateur Wine Competition Medalists included one of our own::

Phil Santens of El Cajon won a Gold Medal for Other Red Vinifera Blends (2000 50% Zinfandel 25% Cabernet Sauvignon 25% Sangiovese).
Phil also won a Bronze award for a 2001 Zinfandel.

CHEERS to the Winners at the 2002 San Diego County Fair Homemade Wine & Liqueur competition:

Bob Howard placed 5th of 68 in the Red Wine Varietal category with his first wine!
Pete Anderson took 3rd place in that group.
Pat Golojuch took First Place in the overall Whites with his Muscat Canelli.

Results from the 2003 Orange County Fair were as follows:

Jim Watring 2000 Carignan Silver and 2001 Nebbiolo/Cab Franc Bronze
Mike Howard 2001 Cabernet Franc H. Mention, and 2001 Nebbiolo H. Mention.
Rick Buffington 2002 Sauvignon Blanc Bronze
John Vigliotti 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Silver, 2000 Varietal Rose Bronze
Pete Anderson 2002 Sangiovese/Cabernet Sauvignon Silver, 2002 Sangiovese Bronze, and 2002 Cabernet Bronze.

Results from the San Diego (Del Mar) Fair 2003:

Pete Anderson 2002 50% Cabernet 337 clone/50% Sangiove brunello clone 1st place in Red Blend and 1st overall Red Wine Division, Label- 2nd place
Walter & Robin Davis Sangiovese 50% Merlot 50% 2002 2nd place and Plum 2002 5th place
Robin Davis Label-Original art 1st place
Jim Santospirto, Bill Martin and John Vigliotti "ROSE" wine 2nd place
Jim Santospirto "ORANGE" wine 2nd place
Kevin Kozak White Vinifera (1st - Chardonnay, 2nd Viogner)
Kevin Kozak Rose (1st - White Merlot)
Kevin Kozak White Non-Vinifera (2nd - Cayuga White)
